Christmas is my favourite holiday, it’s basically a month-long party full of food, family, laughter and love. I love decorating the house, it is about a two-week process in our house that we start the first day of December. Come December 25th our house is riddled with pin holes and blue tack, holding in place the Christmas spirit until at least January 1st. I also love creating my annual Christmas card.
Every year I create a personalised Christmas card. This year I based it on a classic nativity, the type that many of us were subjected to during our childhoods. It was so much fun to create and brought back my days as a shepherd, tending to my sheep on the floor of the school gym. From the little I could see from behind my mum’s tea towel it seemed like everyone was having fun. Nativities have come a long way since 1994 and now a lobster or even batman may be present during the birth of Jesus.
I traditionally base my cards on my husband and I, but this year I wanted to just capture lots of little personalities, not based on anyone we know. Alas, old habits die hard, and family and friend’s immediate reaction is, ‘let me guess who’s who!’.
I always have a list as long as my arm at Christmas of creative ideas and unfortunately not everything gets done, but here are some of my favourite parts from this year.
